my name is gary chalk, i am a professional catfishing guide, our trips include airport pickup and return, accommodation (mobile home), all tackle, all live bait, fishing licences etc etc, all our fishing is done by boat, gently drifting down the river with live baits, true predator fishing, our 17-foot open dory boat (new for 2011) comfortably accommodates up to 3 anglers plus me your guide, the boat is fully equipped to land and handle these huge cats, fitted with minn kotta electric engine, fishfinder, rod rests, life jackets, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, custom made weigh sling and 240lb reuben heaton scales we use specially built catfishing rods fitted with shimano 6500b bait runner reels and top quility braids and hooks which have been tried and tested and can handle the biggest of cats our fishing is concentrated on the lower ebro around the towns of amposta, tortosa and deltebre, with fantastic scenery and views of the mountians, this unspoilt area is far less fished than the banks of the upper ebro around meqiunenza and caspe with the lines of anglers on the bankside the wels catfish was introduced in the early 70s, growing to sizes in excess of 200lbs making them the largest freshwater fish in europe, with the warm waters and huge supply of bait fish on the lower ebro, these cats can put on over 10lb in weight a year, making the river ebro the top catfishing venue in europe we now also have a 4 bedroom country house with private swimming pool available for rent click here for details
